Das Metaverse kommt näher. Und im Zusammenspiel mit KI, der Blockchain und anderen Zukunftstechnologien bieten Virtual, Augmented und Mixed Reality völlig neue Möglichkeiten. Aber gut sollten sie schon sein! Deswegen suchen 1E9, der XR HUB Bavaria und Huawei nach Konzepten, die zeigen, was mit XR möglich ist. Macht mit beim „New Realities“-Wettbewerb und erobert die Bühne auf der nächsten 1E9-Konferenz im November!
Das Metaverse hat es von der Science-Fiction-Vision einer virtuellen Parallelwelt zum neuesten Hype in der Tech-Welt gebracht. Viele Unternehmen – vom Start-up bis zum Großkonzern – arbeiten bereits an ihrer Vision des Internets der Zukunft. Doch noch ist nichts entschieden! Deswegen suchen wir eure Ideen für ein Metaverse, das keine Dystopie ist, sondern eine bessere, erstrebenswerte digitale Welt. Außerdem wünschen wir uns Einreichungen, die zeigen, wie sich verschiedene Technologien mit XR kombinieren lassen, um echte Innovationen zu schaffen.
Wer kann mitmachen?
Wie im vergangenen Jahr gilt: Egal, ob ihr auf der Schule oder Hochschule seid, bereits ein Start-up habt, in einem Unternehmen arbeitet, in der Garage bastelt oder mit Kunst und Kultur euer Geld verdient, ihr alle könnt euch bewerben. Die einzige Voraussetzung: Ihr habt eine Idee für ein gutes Metaverse oder für innovative Projekte, die XR und eine andere Zukunftstechnologie miteinander verbinden. Vom Konzept, das bisher nur in eurem Kopf existiert, bis zum Prototypen oder fertigen Produkt darf alles dabei sein: Kunst, Hardware, Software – und was sonst noch denkbar ist.
Was habt ihr davon?
Aus den Bewerbungen, die bis zum 20. Oktober eingehen, wählt eine Jury die fünf vielversprechendsten Ideen aus. Sie alle werden dann im Onlinemagazin von 1E9 und im New Realities Podcast von 1E9 und dem XR HUB Bavaria vorgestellt. Außerdem nehmen sie am 23. November am Finale bei der 1E9-Konferenz 2021 im Deutschen Museum in München teil – und reihen sich damit in ein Speaker-Line-up ein, zu dem zum Beispiel Ethereum-Mitgründer Vitalik Buterin, aber auch die BioNTech-Gründer Ugur Sahin und Özlem Türeci gehören. Vorab gibt’s ein Pitchtraining, damit der Auftritt vor Hunderten Teilnehmenden – vor Ort und digital – auch sitzt. Die Tech-Community – von Start-ups und Konzernen, Investmentfonds und Kultur, Politik und Medien, Forschung und Hochschulen – wird dabei sein. Und ist gespannt auf eure Einfälle.

Alle, die sich für die Endrunde qualifizieren, kriegen ein Tech-Gadget. Für das Gewinnerprojekt gibt’s außerdem ein Preisgeld von 1.000 Euro.
Wer sitzt in der Fachjury?
Die Vorauswahl für die Endrunde treffen die XR-Expertinnen und -Experten von 1E9 und dem XR HUB Bavaria. Das Gewinnerprojekt wird beim Final durch unsere dreiköpfige Fachjury ausgewählt. Zu dieser gehören Tina Lorenz, die Projektleiterin für Digitale Entwicklung am Staatstheater Augsburg, Matthias Bastian, der Gründer und Herausgeber von Mixed.de, und Tim Deussen vom Studio Deussen.
Wie funktioniert die Bewerbung?
Ganz einfach und klassisch per E-Mail. Schickt uns spätestens bis zum 30. Oktober eine Mail an new.realities@1e9.community, die folgendes enthält: eure/n Namen, eine persönliche Vorstellung und eine überzeugende Beschreibung eurer Idee – bestehend aus einem Text, der nicht viel länger als 500 Wörter sein sollte. Wenn ihr zusätzlich Skizzen, Videos (bitte mit Download-Link, falls sie zu groß sind) oder Fotos habt, die der Jury dabei helfen, das Konzept, den Prototypen oder das Produkt noch besser zu verstehen, schickt sie gleich mit.

The metaverse is getting closer. And in combination with AI, blockchain and other future technologies, virtual, augmented and mixed reality offer completely new possibilities. That’s why 1E9, the XR HUB Bavaria and Huawei are looking for concepts that show what’s possible with XR. Join the „New Realities“ competition and conquer the stage at the next 1E9 conference in November!
The metaverse has made it from a science fiction vision of a virtual parallel universe to the latest hype in the tech world. Many companies - from start-ups to large corporations - are already working on their vision of the Internet of the future. But nothing has been decided yet! That’s why we’re looking for your ideas for a Metaverse that’s not a dystopia, but a better, more desirable digital world. Apart from that, we also want submissions that show how different technologies can be combined with XR to create real innovation.
Who can participate?
Like last year, whether you’re in high school or college, already have a startup, work at a company, tinker in your garage, or make your living through arts and culture, you can all apply. The only requirement: You have an idea for a good metaverse or for innovative projects that combine XR and another future technology. From a concept that only exists in your head to a prototype or finished product, everything is possible: art, hardware, software - and anything else you can think of.
What do you get out of it?
A jury will select the five most promising ideas from the applications received by October 20. They will all then be featured in 1E9’s online magazine and on the New Realities Podcast by 1E9 and the XR HUB Bavaria. They will also take part in the finale at the 1E9 Conference 2021 at the Deutsches Museum in Munich on November 23 – joining a speaker lineup that includes Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, for example, as well as BioNTech founders Ugur Sahin and Özlem Türeci. Beforehand, there will be pitch training so that the appearance in front of hundreds of participants - on site and digitally - will also sit well. The tech community - from startups and corporations, investment funds and culture, politics and media, research and universities - will be there. And is eager to hear your ideas.

Everyone who qualifies for the finals gets a tech gadget. For the winning project, there’s also a prize money of 1,000 euros.
Who sits on the expert jury?
The pre-selection for the final round is made by the XR experts from 1E9 and the XR HUB Bavaria. The winning project will be selected at the final by our three-member expert jury. This includes Tina Lorenz, the project manager for digital development at the Staatstheater Augsburg, Matthias Bastian, the founder and editor of Mixed.de, and Tim Deussen from Studio Deussen.
How does the application work?
Quite simply and classically by e-mail. Send us an email to new.realities@1e9.community by October 30 at the latest, containing the following: your name(s), a personal introduction and a convincing description of your idea - consisting of a text that should not be much longer than 500 words. If you have additional sketches, videos (please include a download link if they are too large) or photos that will help the jury understand the concept, prototype or product even better, send them right away.
