Sandra Riedel is an illustrator of speculative future(s). After she graduated school of art weißensee, she worked 4 years at Fraunhofer, Center for Responsible Research and Innovation, Berlin. She designed and explored speculative practices along the field of illustration and foresight. 2017 she decided to extend her view through an outer perspective and crossed the Atlantic on a 45m sailing vessel. Since then she is on her way as a freelance artist and collaborated with numerous organisations in the field of sustainability. Her works move on the borderline between reality and fiction, with the aim of having an effect beyond aesthetics – short said – to make pro-topican life worlds visible and open to discussion.
Sandra Riedel ist eine Illustratorin für spekulative Zukünft(e). Nach ihrem Abschluss an der Kunsthochschule weißensee arbeitete sie 4 Jahre bei Fraunhofer, Center for Responsible Research and Innovation, Berlin. Sie entwarf und erforschte spekulative Praktiken auf dem Gebiet der Illustration und Zukunftsforschung. 2017 beschloss sie, ihren Blick um eine weitere Perspektive zu erweitern und überquerte den Atlantik auf einem 45m langen Segelschiff. Seitdem ist sie als freiberufliche Künstlerin unterwegs und co-laboriert mit zahlreichen Organisationen im Bereich der Nachhaltigkeit. Ihre Arbeiten bewegen sich an der Grenze zwischen Realität und Fiktion, mit dem Ziel, über die Ästhetik hinaus zu wirken – kurz gesagt – pro-topische Lebenswelten aufzuzeigen und sie diskutierbar zu machen.
