Mathis Nitschke, Composer / Theater Maker, Sofilab.art

Mathis Nitschke is an artist who works between disciplines. He combines his studies of visual arts and musical composition with theatre and opera, as well as coding. In collaboration with artists from various disciplines, Nitschke tries to give contemporary music theatre a new face.

In 2017 he created the world’s first Augmented Reality opera „MAYA“ in the ruins of the heating plant Munich-Aubing, together with his collaborators Klasien van de Zandschulp, Luciano Pinna and Elsa Büsing.

Their prototype „Lure“, currently in progress, explores three different artistic approaches to machine learning and theater: Develop empathy with the computational character by discovering how it learns. Experience its inner workings through theatrical expression. And be touched by its musical sensitivity.
