Making Machines "See" the World

The ability to „see“ occupies large parts of our human brain. The Cambrian explosion with its tremendous variety of life coincides with the appearance of the „eye“ as complex sensing organ in living systems. Today we are at the verge of machines to become autonomous. One of the greatest challenges in that is to make machines „see“ the world in order to handle the complexity of safe interaction with an uncertain and dynamic environment. Daniel Cremers is a pioneer in this area of research and has influenced the current state of technology like hardly any other person. He is also co-founder of the company Artisense and will tell us both from his experience and challenges in making machines see!
