Rüdiger Trojok

Ruediger Trojok, Diplom Biologist, is a life science researcher, technology consultant to the German
Government and author of popular science literature. At UnternehmerTUM GmbH, he founded and leads the
synthetic biology innovation lab Bio.Kitchen as part of the technology incubator UnternehmerTUM,
which merges AI, robotics and synthetic biology.
Rüdiger studied systems and synthetic biology at the Universities of Potsdam, Copenhagen (DTU) and Freiburg. In his academic work he invented a novel contraceptive method based on genetically altered lactic acid bacteria. He worked as a consultant for the office for Technology Assessment by the German Parliament on biohacking and synthetic biology and lead a research project on genome editing technologies for the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis at the Karlsruhe Institute for Technology on behalf of the German ministry of science and education (BMBF). Ruediger regularly testifies before German and European authorities. Ruediger has been involved in life science innovation in the global Do It Yourself biology network since 2009 and developed a number of molecular biology experiments and tools using low cost equipment. In 2014 he founded a startup and developed Digital Biochips which automate and integrate biological laboratory procedures. In 2013 he founded the non-profit Biotinkering Berlin e.V. to support open-source biotechnology projects related to public life, politics and the arts. His works have been widely featured in German mass media, in galleries and in academic conferences across Europe and globally.
